Goodbye, Horses 2022 | Freyberger Gallery

Goodbye, Horses is a week-long exhibition of small sculptural works by Sam Newton and students at Penn State Berks. The simple, one wall installation isolates the various sculptures into a herd of horses. The artist envisions the horses running off in multiple directions allowing each student-artist to direct their own interpretation of the playful, constrained anatomical style.

The exhibition is the result of an artist-led workshop that took place in the gallery mid-November. Student-participants were introduced to non-traditional construction of ‘skeletal’ structure and external sculpting techniques using accessible, everyday materials.

This event-installation hosted by Freyberger Gallery at Penn State Berks thanks to support of the Grout-Kauffman and Dr. Ruth M. Freyberger Endowment for the Arts.
